Star Princess brings a modern ship to an itinerary where weather, wildlife, and timing shape the vacation. These five tips help advisors protect the moments clients traveled to Alaska to experience.
Tip 1: Reserve the defining excursion early
Ask each traveler which Alaska experience matters most: whale watching, the White Pass railway, a glacier-focused tour, wildlife, flightseeing, or something else.
Small boats, trains, and aircraft have real capacity limits. Encourage clients to reserve their highest priority early and identify an acceptable alternative.
Tip 2: Pack layers, not one heavy outfit
Southeast Alaska weather can change through the day. A comfortable base layer, warm mid-layer, waterproof and windproof shell, hat, gloves, and water-resistant shoes create more flexibility than one bulky coat.
Binoculars should be easy to reach, not buried in checked luggage. Clients may see wildlife from the ship before the first excursion begins.
Tip 3: Set up the Medallion before travel
Encourage clients to complete required app steps and become familiar with the Ocean Medallion before leaving home.
They do not need to master every feature. They should understand boarding, room access, onboard purchases, and where to find their schedule. Current instructions should always be confirmed through Princess.
Tip 4: Plan more than one viewing location
A private balcony is convenient, but it shows only one side of the ship. On glacier and scenic-cruising days, clients should know several public viewing spaces and be prepared to move as the ship turns.
Star Princess’s outward-facing spaces can make poor weather easier to manage, but a waterproof layer still belongs in the day bag.
Tip 5: Pace the port days
Alaska excursions can begin early and involve long periods outdoors. Avoid stacking every port with the most physically demanding option.
A quieter afternoon or shorter tour can preserve energy for the glacier day and the experiences that matter most.
A Star Princess guidebook gives clients a useful overview of the ship and itinerary, allowing your planning conversations to focus on their priorities.
