Hello,

One of the simplest ways to create a smoother cruise is to help clients understand the ship before they step aboard.

Rotterdam rewards travelers who know what kind of experience they are choosing: refined rather than frantic, music-forward, comfortable for longer itineraries, and built around classic cruising with contemporary touches. When clients understand that rhythm in advance, they are more likely to notice what the ship does well—and less likely to spend the first two days figuring it out.

This week’s complimentary guide: Rotterdam

The sampler includes the complete table of contents, introduction, and first five chapters of The Ultimate Guide to Sailing on Rotterdam.

A subtle client-gifting idea

Send the complete guide after final payment with a short personal note: “I wanted you to have this before you sail so you can spend less time researching and more time anticipating the trip.”

That is useful, personal, and naturally keeps your agency connected to the experience without turning the gift into an advertisement.

What is changing aboard Rotterdam

Holland America Line announced a substantial drydock refresh for Rotterdam, including expanded live-music spaces, suite enhancements, updates to Vista Suites, and changes to public areas such as the Crow’s Nest and Sea View Pool. For advisors, the practical point is not to memorize every alteration—it is to make sure older photos, deck descriptions, and client expectations are checked against the updated ship.

Rotterdam is also scheduled for a Mediterranean season in fall 2027, expanding the ship’s appeal beyond its familiar Northern Europe and Caribbean patterns. That creates a useful matching conversation: clients drawn to Rotterdam’s onboard style may soon have a broader range of destination choices.

Free tool of the week: Holland America’s Navigator app

Encourage clients to download the free Navigator app before departure and sign in while they are still at home. Once onboard, it becomes the practical center of the trip: daily schedules, dining information, account details, and personalized planning.

The unexpected value for an advisor is expectation management. Ask clients to identify three priorities before they sail—perhaps live music, a specialty dinner, and one sea-day activity—then use the app to build around those anchors rather than trying to do everything.

A five-minute pre-sailing exercise

Ask each traveler to complete these sentences:

  1. The one onboard experience I do not want to miss is…

  2. A successful sea day feels like…

  3. I prefer dinner to be spontaneous / scheduled / a mix.

Their answers can surface mismatched expectations before they become onboard friction.
