Icon of the Seas is more than transportation between ports. It is a destination filled with neighborhoods, dining venues, entertainment, activities, and decisions that can shape the entire vacation.
Clients do not need to schedule every minute, but they will have a smoother experience if they settle a few priorities before embarkation.
CHOOSE THE CABIN FOR THE TRAVELER
Price matters, but location matters too. Ask whether your clients prioritize quiet, quick access to activities, a particular view, or reduced walking. Families, light sleepers, and travelers sensitive to motion may need different recommendations.
Help clients understand what is above, below, and near the cabin—not just its category name.
IDENTIFY THE MUST-DO EXPERIENCES
Ask every traveler to name two or three experiences that would make the cruise feel successful. The answer might involve a particular show, restaurant, family activity, or relaxing sea day.
This short list makes the rest of the planning easier and prevents clients from trying to do everything.
REVIEW WHAT IS INCLUDED
Large ships offer many choices, but not every restaurant, activity, package, or service is included in the cruise fare.
Before sailing, clarify which experiences are complimentary, which require reservations, and which involve an additional charge. Clear expectations prevent disappointment onboard.
HANDLE PRIORITY RESERVATIONS EARLY
Clients should review reservation opportunities as soon as their booking allows. Encourage them to reserve the experiences they care about most first and leave room for spontaneous choices.
The goal is not to over-schedule the vacation. It is to protect the moments that matter.
CREATE AN EMBARKATION-DAY PLAN
A simple first-day plan can reduce stress. Travelers should know when to arrive, what belongs in their carry-on bag, where to go after boarding, and which tasks should be completed before cabins are ready.
Medication, travel documents, valuables, swimwear, and anything needed during the first few hours should remain with the traveler.
DISCUSS PORT-DAY PRIORITIES
Some clients want organized excursions; others prefer independent exploration or a quiet day onboard. Discuss activity level, transportation, timing, and the consequences of returning late before they make port plans.
The best excursion is the one that fits the traveler—not simply the most popular option.
GIVE CLIENTS A SHIP-SPECIFIC RESOURCE
A guide gives clients a reference they can revisit without searching through scattered messages and websites. It also reinforces the value of the advisor who helped them prepare.
